With the Coronavirus overwhelming the world right now, it seems hard to believe that it was just virtually yesterday when, here in America at least, we were getting ready for the next presidential election and watching Democrats outdoing each other in not only badmouthing President Trump, but Israel as well, as all moved farther to the Hard Left to gain votes.<\/p>\n

As for Jews themselves, you\u2019d think that, after what people like Captain Alfred Dreyfus, Theodore Herzl, and Dr. Judah Leib (\u201cLeo\u201d) Pinsker witnessed in the \u201cenlightened\u201d 19th<\/sup>century, the lesson of placing faith in such \u201cProgressive\u201d folks and movements would have been learned by now.<\/p>\n

Not the case, however.<\/p>\n

Predictably, 70-80% will vote to oust arguably the most pro-Israel\/pro-Jewish President in American history to vote for\u00a0any\u00a0<\/i>candidate the Democrats throw against him.<\/p>\n

To make matters worse, the leading contenders for that job differ only in degrees in terms of animus towards a viable Israel which is bigger than the 9-15 mile wide sardine can that the nation was left as by the ’49 armistice lines–a constant temptation Arabs have not been able to refuse to bisect the Jew of the Nations\u00a0<\/i>and slaughter its people. This is, after all, what the Settlement Issue is mostly all about–whether Israel gets the territorial compromise assured by the final, accepted draft of UNSC Resolution 242 in the wake of the ’67 War, or is forced back to those suicidal Auschwitz\/armistice lines.<\/p>\n

The worse of the Democrats on these issues is the “Socialist” (Communist?) Bernie Sanders. While claiming that he really isn’t against Israel per se, but just its “racist leaders,” Sanders\u00a0surrounds himself with spokespeople and staffers who are rabid antisemites as well as anti-Zionists–whether the subject is an Israel nine or nine hundred miles wide. And not that there’s a nickel’s worth of difference between those two types of folks, if truth be told\u00a0https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/national-security\/sanders-fills-ranks-with-anti-israel-advocates-tied-to-anti-semitism-scandal\/<\/a><\/b>;<\/b>https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/opinion\/jack-rosen-bernie-sanders-would-be-most-anti-israel-us-president-since-founding-of-modern-jewish-state<\/a>\u00a0.<\/b><\/p>\n

So, let’s examine why Sanders (Santa Claus to millions of his supporters) and his like-minded colleagues and mentors have such animus for, of all the other nations on Earth, the sole, minuscule, resurrected State of the Jews…the one which requires a magnifying glass to locate on a world globe.<\/p>\n

Ironically (or worse), while national liberation movements are\u00a0usually viewed in a favorable light, that of perhaps the most oppressed people this planet has ever known–modern political Zionism–has increasingly\u00a0been regarded as\u00a0illegitimate.<\/p>\n

There are several reasons for this\u2026<\/p>\n

For many, theology has\u00a0taught for millennia that Jews were children of the Devil and cursed to be perpetual, stateless wanderers for their alleged \u201cdeicide.\u201d Given this, how dare Jews upset such \u201choly\u201d beliefs! And often, for many living in a post-Auschwitz world, the\u00a0animus earlier reserved for Jews as individuals simply gets transferred and becomes more acceptable as\u00a0hostility towards\u00a0the Jewish State\u00a0instead. The homilies of early Church Father St. John Chrysostum are telling indeed, but there’s a long list of teachings of other Church leaders just like him on these matters\u00a0http:\/\/www.israelnationalnews.com\/Articles\/Article.aspx\/10797<\/a><\/b>.<\/p>\n

For many non<\/i>-Christians, no other nationalism in the region but their own is deemed legitimate. Arabs simply call the entire Middle East and North Africa \u201cpurely Arab patrimony\u201d and a permanent part of the\u00a0Dar ul-Islam<\/i>, never to be allowed to revert back to the\u00a0Dar al-Harb<\/i>\u00a0(Realm of War). \u00a0The grudgingly-permitted exceptions are the adjacent nations ruled by other earlier Arabized (to one extent or another) peoples–Turks, Iranians, Afghanis, and so forth.\u00a0Literally millions who have stood in the way or challenged such ideas have been slaughtered over the centuries–including to this very day. The Arabs\u2019 Anfal Campaign in 1980s Iraq wound up killing some 200,000 Kurds as a result of gassing and other means of wholesale slaughter. Millions of black Africans in various parts of the Sudan fell victim to this as well–along with numerous other folks elsewhere. Not to mention the wholesale slaughter points east on the Indian subcontinent.<\/p>\n

In between those above rationales, however, exists a blend of others which have been used to also apply a constant set of\u00a0duplicitous actions and attitudes towards Israel.\u00a0While perfect justice is found nowhere among the realm of imperfect man, it is nevertheless constantly demanded of Israel in its struggle to survive. Recent debates among American Democrats or numerous sessions of the United Nations are just a few examples of such duplicity. Progressive Jewish professors on campus are among the worse offenders.<\/p>\n

For religious Zionists, the Hand of G_d was at work in all of these events throughout the ages leading up to the rebirth of Israel in 1948. It took, after all, the rejection by the non-Jewish world of even the most assimilated of Jews–men like Captain Alfred Dreyfus–before the rebirth of political Zionism could become a reality. But not all Jews were religious Zionists\u2013if Zionists at all. \u201cZion\u201d is simply another name for Jerusalem and in greater perspective, the land of Israel, for those who may not know…https:\/\/www.history.com\/news\/what-was-the-dreyfus-affair<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n

Over the millennia, Jews had tried just about everything to gain acceptance in the non-Jewish world; but events like the Dreyfus Affair, pogroms, and other often murderous actions culminating in the Holocaust kept on occurring in the \u201cmodern, enlightened\u201d age anyway.<\/p>\n

So Zionism came to have another meaning\u2026 It represented a chance for Jews to simply bring a semblance of normalcy into their lives. Since the fall of Judea to Rome after the Second Revolt in 135 C.E.,\u00a0forced conversions, expulsions, inquisitions, blood libels, massacres,\u00a0demonization, ghettoization, dhimmitude, and every other imaginable humiliation\u00a0had become the plight of the Jew in the Diaspora. The violence and incitement continues and is once again on the rise.<\/p>\n

Too often, they were\/are either perpetually doomed, wandering \u201cG_d killers\u201d in the Christian West or\u00a0kilab yahud (<\/i>\u201cJew Dog\u201d)\u00a0killers of prophetsin the Muslim East.<\/p>\n

So, not all Jews who longed for Zion did so to become the Hebrew Bible\u2019s\u00a0nation of priests<\/i>\u00a0or\u00a0light unto the nations.<\/i>\u00a0While the high ideals of religious Zionism remained in many a Jewish heart and soul (even among agnostics), the chance to simply change their age-old fragile existence, being treated as a perpetual stranger in someone else\u2019s land, was also a major motivating factor.<\/p>\n

Besides wanting to escape the mandatory ghetto (and subconsciously the evolved ghetto mentality<\/i>) of Christendum or the\u00a0mellah<\/i>\u00a0of the Dar ul-Islam–and the negative effects and consequences such existence both produced\u00a0on\u00a0<\/i>and brought out\u00a0from\u00a0<\/i>themselves over the centuries–Jews just wanted to have a nation like all others.<\/p>\n

Some, however, like Karl Marx, would seek solutions in a broader context, via political and socio-economic reform. Ironically, while Marx despised his Jewish roots, he sounded like a Hebrew Prophet in his demand for justice for the poor and the oppressed. Isaiah, Micah, Amos, Hosea, and others, including Yehoshua\/Jesus later on, would have understood his passion well\u2026Indeed, they were his teachers–and Bernie Sanders’s as well.<\/p>\n

With the above as background, we\u2019re now ready to examine what the source of the Hard Left’s animosity towards Israel is really all about…<\/p>\n

In a good, commendable Jewish vein, \u201cProgressives\u201d promote the national liberation movements of all victims of imperialism and oppression.<\/p>\n

Too often, however, as in Bernie\u2019s case–regardless of phony protestations to the contrary (witness his fervent embrace of blatant anti-Semites like Linda Sarsour, \u00a0Muslim Brotherhood-connected folks,\u00a0The Three Amigas<\/i>, and others leading his charge)–the Sanders ilk excludes the right of Jews to such national revival and liberation…the very people who are indeed the world\u2019s longest surviving victims of imperial conquest and oppression\u00a0https:\/\/ekurd.net\/the-three-amigas-2019-02-19<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n

Progressive Hebrews, for example, absolutely love\u00a0Tikun Olam–<\/i>healing the world–as long as Jews,\u00a0as JEWS<\/i>, aren\u2019t included. And as if\u00a0believing\u00a0<\/i>Jews have not been in the forefront of such healing endeavors to assist\u00a0all peoples<\/i>\u00a0for millennia–which they indeed have been.<\/p>\n

So that now leads us to the real guts of the matter\u2026<\/p>\n

Communism–or something very closely related–is what the Hard Left Bernies of the world are really all about.<\/p>\n

Communism is a\u00a0post-nationalist<\/i> ideology.<\/p>\n

While admittedly many sins have been committed in the name of nationalism, like it or not, as seen above, Jews were forced to embrace it since their historical attempts to be accepted in other peoples\u2019 lands usually had tragic results. The pre-Herzl, 19th<\/sup>\u00a0century Russian Jewish physician, Leo(n) Pinkser, spelled this out hauntingly in his treatise, \u201cAuto-Emancipation\u2026\u201d It\u2019s not long and definitely worth the read:\u00a0https:\/\/www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org\/quot-auto-emancipation-quot-leon-pinsker<\/a>.
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

Hard Left movements (not<\/i>\u00a0\u201cLiberals\u201d) thus regard the national liberation movement of the Jewish people–Zionism–<\/i>as reactionary. Hence, Zionism emerged successful just at a time when\u00a0post-national\u00a0<\/i>Socialist and Communist movements were arising.<\/p>\n

While religious Jews saw G_d\u2019s long-awaited involvement in Israel\u2019s rebirth, many other, more secular Jews embraced these Leftist ideologies. Among other reasons, the latter\u00a0had the potential to serve as protective umbrellas under and within which oppressed minorities–especially Christianity\u2019s\u00a0deicide people–<\/i>could blend and become part of a greater whole.<\/p>\n

For Jews, however, this embrace turned out to be a nasty pipe dream. Stalin, the Communist, slaughtered them the same as Russian czars did.<\/p>\n

So, whether they were murdered or otherwise victimized by proto-nationalist Czarist Russia, or in the atheist USSR, Jews still remained simply\u00a0dirty Jews.\u00a0<\/i>And that was the situation in numerous other \u201cenlightened\u201d nations as well.<\/p>\n

Comprenden mis amigos<\/em>?<\/p>\n

Progressive Jews are appalled by\u00a0Jewish (as in English, Polish, Swedish, Irish, etc.)\u00a0<\/i>Jews\u2026The latter remind them and Gentiles that Jews are a distinct\u00a0people–<\/i>something used too often in the past to demonize, ghettoize, dehumanize, and massacre them. Since Napoleon freed them from the ghetto in the 19th century, a return to such existence had always been a nightmare. The birth of the Reform Movement in Judaism was itself largely a reaction to this, with the latter even proposing changing the Sabbath to Sunday to avoid perception of Jewish uniqueness. And for the (especially early)Reform, Zionism was especially a nightmare.<\/p>\n

Hard Left Hebrews don\u2019t want to be reminded about who they are–like German Jewish WWI vets proclaiming their German loyalties and showing laughing Nazis their war medals before being sent off to the gas chambers and ovens of Auschwitz.<\/p>\n

While the above does not tell the entire story about why too many Jews and other Leftists, for example, oppose President Trump\u2019s fair and favorable actions towards Israel, the Jewish people, and the rest of the region, it does go far in explaining much of it.<\/p>\n

The above also leads folks like the Sanders ilk to attack any Israel that has a chance of surviving the Hard Left\u2019s preferred Arab version of a so-called “peace (of the grave<\/i>) deal.” Israel’s\u00a0alleged latter-day Arafatian \u201cpeace partners\u201d–the ones who pay other Arabs nicely for such heroics as decapitating Jewish infants asleep in their own homes–openly call any dealings with Jews a \u201cTrojan Horse,\u201d designed to further their \u201cdestruction-in-stages\u201d plan for Israel. So, is there really any wonder why Bernie is beloved among overt and covert Jihadis both here and abroad?<\/p>\n

We live in an age when increasing world-wide (often disguised) antisemitism is accompanied by cowardly Hebrews who aid and abet such attitudes and actions themselves.<\/p>\n
